Review addressing and name resolution for voice devices
A monthly network review should compare the documented voice path with the active one. Start with a sample device from each distinct site or subnet.
Compare records with live settings
- Check the subnet, gateway and voice VLAN assigned to the sample device.
- Compare DHCP option values and lease duration with the approved phone configuration.
- Resolve the call-server name from the voice network and confirm the intended address family and destination.
- Review recent route or firewall changes affecting signalling and media.
Record the device, site, time and configuration versions used in the check. Rotate the sample so a successful result on one switch does not stand in for the entire network. Assign a named owner to any mismatch and test again after correction.
Use the IP networking reference for voice deployments for the terms in the record.
