VoIP dial-plan worksheet

A dial plan tells a phone system where to send a number or number pattern. Use this worksheet to write the rules in plain language before you configure them in a phone system.

Your entries stay in this browser tab. Copy the worksheet before you reload or leave the page.

Add one routing rule at a time. This worksheet does not change your phone system. Your rules stay in this tab and are lost when you leave or reload, so copy them before you go.

Before you configure the rules

Check that two patterns do not accidentally match the same number. Include emergency calls, international calls, feature codes, caller ID, backup routes, and a way to undo the change.

Test both short and long number patterns in a safe test environment before using the dial plan for live calls.
